In Memoriam - Gary Gygax

Gary Gygax
1938-2008

Gary Gygax was best known for co-creating the pioneering role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) with Dave Arneson in 1974, and co-founding the company Tactical Studies Rules (TSR, Inc.) with Don Kaye in 1973. After leaving TSR, Gygax continued to author role-playing game titles independently, including another gaming system called Lejendary Adventure.

Gygax is generally acknowledged as one of the fathers of the tabletop role-playing game.

A true geek pioneer. Without him and his vision things like Fantasy Fantasy would never have been possible. Why just read about mythical characters that you didn't create when you can control them and compromise every aspect of them to your own will. His legend lives on.

Well put, Josh.

Next time you all roll a twenty, think of G2.

That is a great picture of the Dragon by the way. We should reuse that same picture when the first Red Dragon gets its 10th death (or Huma Dragonbane).

We promise to keep up your tradition of taking something silly and frivolous and making it something that everyone can enjoy for years to come. You will be missed dearly. By dearly of course, I mean that until you died, I had never actually heard of you. Still, thanks for the memories.

That reminds me, we really should think of a way to create A Fantasy Fantasy Minaitures Role Playing Game; if for no other reason just to prove that there is always a way to make something dorky even dorkier.
